Plan Events

Help plan events for Harvard alumni in the area!

Throughout the year, the Harvard Club of Southern Connecticut plans events for its members. But there is so much more that we could do!

Examples of events:

  • Every year in November, the Club hosts a dinner and arranges for tickets for the Harvard-Yale hockey game in New Haven.
  • In June, the Club hosts an annual dinner at Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford to welcome incoming freshman from our local high school students who will be attending Harvard in the Fall for the first time.  We invite a guest speaker to address the new students and alumni. In the past, we have had Sen. Blumenthal and Academy Award winner Geoffrey Fletcher, and The Simpsons writer Mike Reiss speak. We also introduce our summer fellowship recipients who are awarded to work during the summer.
  • In 2011, for the first time, the Harvard Club participated with other college clubs like Yale and Princeton in arranging a young alumni event in New Haven.
  • In addition, we host various events throughout the year; i.e. concerts, bird sanctuary walks, sunset cruises, and book club discussions.

These are just a sampling of events during the course of the year. But much more could be done to engage Club members. In particular, we need to organize all the young Harvard alums at grad school at Yale. Please consider helping to plan events, whether they be existing annual events or any new idea that you might have.
