This original piece, which has been donated to the Harvard Club shows the Charles River on an autumn afternoon, seen from the south bank. Two singlesculls are about to pass beneath the Weeks Bridge. The Weld (Radcliffe) Boathouse is seen through one of the arches of the bridge and the cupola of Eliot House is visible through trees. The artist's son, Brooks, AB '62, lived in Eliot House.
All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Harvard Club's book prize program. Brooks Childress, who grew up in Old Saybrook, was a recipient of the Harvard Book Prize.
