Professor daniel Nocera - November 16
The Bionic Leaf
Daniel G. Nocera is the Patterson Rockwood Professor of Energy at the Harvard Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology.
The Harvard Club, together with our sister clubs throughout the northeast, invites you to a Zoom discussion on renewable bioenergy and its potential impact on global poverty and the climate crisis.

Professor Nocera has engineered an artificial bionic leaf (or nitrogen-fixing bioorganism) that uses hydrogen from the leaf and carbon dioxide from the air to make biomass and artificial fuels. The leaf is powered by the sun through a process of photosynthesis that is ten times more efficient than that of a natural leaf. He believes that this research has the power to change the future of the earth by wiping out poverty in developing countries, halting climate change created by traditional fuel emissions, and providing a renewable bioenergy source. In addition to his many awards, he has been recognized by Time magazine as one of 100 most influential people in the world.
Tuesday November 16, 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Please join us for this fascinating lecture!
